A Jersey Run

Today I planned a short, efficient run and listened to Bruce Springsteen along the way. Suddenly, mid-run, “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” popped up on my Bruce list. Rather than skip it – I have a staunch rule against Christmas music prior to Thanksgiving and post-New Year’s – I rocked out and it enhanced my run. Laughing, running, air-drumming to the song on a ninety-one degree summer day was heavenly. I’m not suggesting listening to Christmas music to run all of the time, but today, it worked.

This is the only Christmas song I’ve done this with – and last summer it sneaked up on me while I was running barefoot in the sand on the beach – and it had the same energizing reaction.

Here are some shots of today’s run through ‘the swamps of Jersey’.

About the13thmile

I am proud to now say I am a half-marathon runner! Three half-marathons qualify for that status, I think. I blog about about running, nutrition and sometimes some other stuff. I share my research, tips and experiences with you, and am inspired by the supportive running community! I enjoy connecting with other runners, and hearing about other people's running experiences. Feel free to reach out if you have ran marathons or half marathons in the past!
